Any knife of any grade steel will rust and/or corrode. Scratches, minor blemishes, stains, and patina are marks of time and use. They tell a story and a timeline that should give you a sense of pride. Your knife can be washed with warm water and soap. Never soak your knife in water or any liquid chemical. Wipe dry. Coat your blade with a light oil however, if using knife for food prep - cooking oil is recommended, such as olive or vegetable oil.
I personally use and recommend EDCi FORMULA. Spray on, rub in, wipe off . EDCi is also safe for food prep. If your knife was built with natural wood scales, keep them oiled as well. They have arrived to you with many coats. However, you will need to "feed" them from time to time. I was taught, "Oil once a day for a week, once a week for a month, every month for a year, then yearly." Samples of oils may include, BLO, Danish Oil, or Tung Oil.
"Keep em’ sharp". A knife only needs to be sharpened once on a stone. To keep it hair popping sharp, simply keep it honed or stropped often. Perhaps at the end of the day next to the fire.
To care for your leather sheath, mild soap and a damp cloth will do.
Like wood scales, leather needs to be "fed" as well depending on use and environment. Neats foot Oil will keep it fed and Golden Mink Oil will help to waterproof it. Never store a knife in a leather sheath for extended periods of time, each need to breathe, so the leather won't mold, and the knife won't rust. Plus, it will allow the leather to shrink somewhat to maintain a tight fit. Kydex sheaths can also be cleaned with soap and water followed by air drying, or better with compressed air.

A Knife Sheath - ALWAYS use extreme caution when sheathing and unsheathing any knife and do so in a purposeful safe manner.
